After years of working very closely with wood artisans to create each one of MAM’s watches, we’ve realized that there’s something really special about people who create art with their own hands. People like Eny Lee Parker, the latest artist to join MAM’s I AM project. This spatial and furniture designer creates “simple and bold objects that are slowly and intentionally made,” from surreal lamps, to dreamy side tables, or precious earrings.
We are especially thrilled to have this ceramic artist as part of MAM’s family. Not just because pottery pieces are beautiful in a unique, natural way (just like MAM´s wood watches), but because the art of hand-making objects generates less waste and pollution. “Clay is from the earth, and it just goes back to the earth.”
“What I like most about MAM is the story, the use of sustainable materials in a way that is not obvious.”
We are consuming natural resources far too quickly for the earth to keep up with. We don’t give this planet enough time to regenerate. We need to slow our consumption down. The most meaningful part of Eny’s creative process is that she creates all of her beautiful art pieces herself, from her Brooklyn studio, at her own pace. It is a slow process, giving herself time to create, and giving mother nature time to restore. “I find the awareness of time to be the root of all things sustainable. When the Industrial Revolution happened, people had more time to invent new things, have hobbies, and spend money in general. Because of the change in lifestyle during the Industrial Revolution, the high demand for products came hand in hand with mass production, the effects of which we still see today. We now live in a world of instant gratification.”
When asked about the importance of time, Eny quotes Professor Guttorm Fløistad: "It could however be useful to remind everyone that our basic needs never change. [...] The need for nearness and care, and for a little love! This is given only through slowness in human relations. In order to master changes, we have to recover slowness, reflection, and togetherness. There we will find real renewal.”
MAM was born with the intention to not only pay tribute to nature, but to take care of it. This is a commitment we share with Eny. “What I like most about MAM is the story, the use of sustainable materials in a way that is not obvious.” At MAM, the materials we use to create our watches are either recycled or natural. The wood we use is FSC certified, and comes from ecologically, economically, and socially sustained forests. We also choose to coat our products with dyes free of chemicals.
Buy less. Choose well. We create timeless pieces, design beyond any trend, meant to last forever. “I chose the FERRA 632 because it was simple and classic. It felt like I could wear it with anything!”

Staying humble is the key to success. “Start with something small that is manageable to package, ship and market. Have mentors you look up and be kind to everyone, genuinely. Don’t name drop your way into business.” And remember there’s no need to fake it until you make it. You can just “wing it until you fly.”
